This page is really outdated (it looks more like a release note for the 1.X release where readline support was first added than something else). However, the information is useful, so I suggest restructuring the page somewhat, adding a Windows section (describing the default "doskey" arrow/F8 mechanisms), and perhaps a brief overview of the IDLE console and IPython.

I've added a paragraph on doskey-style editing for windows. If someone wants to add some text about IDLE and/or IPython, be my guest!

I threw together a quick IPython intro. Don't know how much more is needed (maybe an example to show the real power of it), but at least the reader will now know about it.
